Inspiration behind the “Ancient worlds” collection
My art journey kicked off in my 30s, and over the years, I've tried all sorts of techniques, ranging from oil pastels to acrylics, before developing a strong passion for watercolor as my primary medium. In my art, it enables me to experiment with transparencies, vivid colors, and the intricate connection between control and serendipity.
This connection is celebrated in the Ancient Words collection, which captures the calm power of geometrical shapes and the way they fit together harmoniously with color. For this collection, I was inspired by pre-Columbian cultures and art. I really wanted to portray the profound impact they had on me -they showed me what it means to truly communicate through art, and how even simple writing can become visually beautiful- while reinterpreting it with deep respect.
Our innate bond with the whole is reflected in this body of work. It explores the themes of the essence of things, the interconnectedness between them, ancient origins and roots.
I've embraced the transparency and flowing nature of watercolors to portray the softness paired to the raw vitality of the compositions. Inspired by the beauty and intrigue of letting go of sketches and constraints, I have been lost in the rhythm of creation for several months while working on these pieces.
Sharing with you this collection makes me feel both excited and vulnerable, since it offers a close-up look at my creative process but also at my personal journey, discovering a whole new way of seeing my art. I hope that these pieces will resonate with others and inspire them to recognize the coexistence of serendipity and control in their own lives.
I appreciate you coming along on this artistic adventure with me. I'm ecstatic to share these pieces with you, and your support means the world to me.
