ESSENCE PORTRAIT
What if a person could become a symbol?
An Essence Portrait is not a realistic likeness.
It is an abstract watercolour portrait that emerges through attentive observation, presence and intuition.
Each work is a visual distillation of a person, a couple, or a family — translated into colour, movement and form.
Gallery of Essence Portraits
Each portrait is created through a unique encounter.
No two works are ever the same.
Watch an Essence Portrait emerge
Each portrait begins with a meeting — in person or online.
What follows is a process of observation, listening and painting, where colour and water gradually reveal a visual language of presence.
What is an Essence Portrait?
An Essence Portrait is not about resemblance.
It is not a psychological analysis, nor a symbolic system.
It is an artistic translation of presence.
Through conversation, observation and intuitive painting, I explore what someone communicates beyond words — a rhythm, a quality, a movement of being.
The result is closer to an emotional map than a traditional portrait.
Individuals, Couples & Families
Essence Portraits can also explore relational presence — the invisible space between people.

How the process unfolds
Encounter
A calm, 20-minute conversation in person or online. We share a cup of tea, you tell me a bit about yourself, and I simply listen and observe. No pressure, just a shared moment of presence.
Translation
In the studio, I translate the essence of our meeting onto paper. Through a mindful process where mathematical structure meets the fluid unpredictability of watercolour, your presence takes form through colour, light, and gesture.
Portrait
The final piece is a unique, original painting on high-quality 100% cotton paper. It stands as a quiet, physical reminder of our encounter—carefully packaged and shipped directly to your door, ready to find its place in your home.
Forms of Presence
Some aspects of a person cannot be photographed or described.
They can only be encountered.
Essence Portraits are an attempt to give form to that encounter — through colour, gesture and attention.
